Minecraft Forge 1.15.2/1.15.1/1.15 is a free, open-source modding API and loader created to make simpler the compatibility between the vast majority community-created mods in the Java edition of Minecraft.
Players must have the version of Forge and the same version of Minecraft before it can be used. By example, Forge 1.15.1 will need the 1.15 version of Minecraft to run properly. After that, Forge can be used from the Minecraft Launcher.
Forge is compatible with Java edition. The majority of actual mods use Forge system in order to be included to Vanilla Minecraft. Some of the mods that are supported by Forge are listed in its official website.
Forge processes mods a way different than Modloader. Forge mods only run properly with Forge, some mods can work well with the two.
Users may want to check if the mod they want to use is compatible with Forge
If you are using windows you can find the mods folder in the directory .minecraft\mods. This folder generates after Forge is run for the first time. To reach this directory just type %Appdata% and open .minecraft into the search box or you can use the short key Windows key + R
On MacOS you can find the mods folder in the directory ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft and is generated after Forge has run for the first time. To reach this directory, press Command key + Shift key + G while you select the finder window and enter ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft
Why do we need Minecraft Forge?
This is an API which make sure that all your mods works together. One of the most frustrating things for Minecraft players is when you want to use multiple mods they crash or in the end all mods together are bound to have issues compatibility.
This is something not funny to deal with and you have to make a decision like: “Hey, which mod do I want to get rid of? Because I can’t have them all”
The most common trouble with mods is that these mods will edit the Minecraft base files and when you have mods doing that they conflict. So two mods modify the same file and you install them both, they conflict and cause you to crash or other errors and issues like that.
Now if you are a modder and you develop add-ons for the Minecraft community. You can see that Minecraft Forge has some documentation in its official website. This documentation begins from zero to modding. They also teaches you to structure your mod, organize it into packets file, how to debug your mods and much more.
